Does XP needed per skillpoint ever plateau?
As you go up in levels the amount of XP required to reach the next level increases (this bit is obvious, I know). But once you reach level 20 each time you gain a skillpoint the XP required to gain the next point continues to increase.
I'm well over 20k required XP to gain my next skillpoint and have seen no signs of it leveling off. If it continues to climb then the number of skillpoints it is possible to gain on any single character is effectively soft-capped and the dream of having all skills available to a single character (my original long term goal) becomes either much more difficult or effectively impossible, depending on when the XP required becomes functially prohibitive. Has anyone done the math on this or have any light to shed? I did do a search for "experience" but all that got me was tons of posts where people argued about level caps. Waste of my time. Anyway I'm curious because if XP required per skillpoint doesn't level off at a reasonable quantity I shall simply finish off all the skills in my characters main tree and move on. |

Thanks Egads.
Well, that is really obnoxious, and may be what loses me as a continuing customer for future Guild Wars products, unless future expansions do something to address this. Collecting skills is my principle pleasure in the game. With this setup it looks like the only way to really effectively "catch them all" is to make 6 separate characters and delete 2 of them along the way, and even then the only way to access them all at once is with a PvP character I'll likely never use. Not something I'm really interested in doing. *shrug* Oh well. There are other games. This one was certainly worth the box price, so it's not like I haven't gotten my money's worth already. |

This is the calculation from gwonline. After level 20, the xp needed per level is 20*600+12,800. I've read it in a thread with someone confirming that you need 24,800 xp per skill point after level 20, but I couldn't find it again.
I myself have level 3 or 4 more times after level 20, and it didn't take me long. I'll watch my xp levels and report back. http://www.gwonline.net/page.php?p=137 19 12,200 127,800 20 Health, 15 Attribute Points, 1 Skill Point 460 Health, 155 Attribute Points, 18 Skill Points 20 12,800 140,600 20 Health, 15 Attribute Points, 1 Skill Point 480 Health, 170 Attribute Points, 19 Skill Points 21+ (level - 2)(600) + 2000 (level - 20)(600) + 12800 1 Skill Point 480 Health, 170 Attribute Points, (level - 1) Skill Points |
